The Golden Edit — A Jewellery Story with Zoe Mark Thresher
Inspiration
One of my favourite things to shoot is jewellery. Having run my own jewellery brand for a number of years, I know intimately how much thought goes into every piece — the weight of it, the finish, the way it catches light differently depending on the hour. That knowledge never leaves you, and I think it shows in the way I approach a jewellery editorial. Getting it right matters to me in a way that goes beyond the technical. As a Brighton based jewellery photographer and brand photographer, this kind of campaign is where I feel most at home.
Location
For this shoot we headed to a beautiful location house on Shoreham Beach — and it was perfect. Think minimal linen sofas, Bauwerk clay walls in the most beautiful warm neutral tones, and natural light pouring in throughout. There's nothing quite like natural light for capturing gold — the way it glows, the subtle texture of a band, the delicate sparkle of a set stone. The space asked nothing of the viewer except to look at the jewellery, and that's exactly what we needed.
The Model
I've had the pleasure of working with Zoe Mark Thresher from MOT Models London a few times now, and every single time she takes my breath away. There is a stillness and natural elegance to the way she holds herself that you simply cannot direct — she just has it. For a jewellery editorial that quality is everything. The way she carries a piece, the stillness in her hands, the angle of her jaw — Zoe brings all of it instinctively, and it elevates every single frame.
